Ways of achieving efficiency in women“s e-magazine discourse(English-Bulgarian study)

Radostina Iglikova

The dissertation is an attempt at a qualitative study of the ways of
achieving linguistic efficiency in the discourse of electronic women’s
magazines from a comparative aspect and, more specifically, at doing
this on the basis of a custom-made corpus of web headlines from two
websites of the Cosmopolitan women’s magazine.
The study is unique in its attempt to integrate various theoretical
approaches to the study of text, discourse and computer-mediated
discourse by means of applying a text-linguistic notion (the regulative
principle of efficiency) to the analysis of a computer-mediated discourse
(web headlines).
