Becoming an English language teacher: From theory to practice

IRINA IVANOVA

The present course book is meant to be a guide and resource for university students of English Studies and Applied linguistics who have chosen to obtain a teaching qualification. The book can also be used in teacher training courses for in-service teachers of English. The course book contains a brief, comprehensive and up-to-day account of the teacher training curriculum – from the major theories of language learning and teaching, through teaching and developing language systems and skills, to more practical aspects concerned with planning, managing and evaluating the teaching process. Applying theory to practice is discussed with a focus on observation, decision making and reflection.
